Who do you work for?
When we make a decision to serve the Lord with our life, to let Jesus be our boss, the answer to that question is the same, regardless of circumstances or location. We work for Jesus!
People choose jobs for different reasons. They enjoy doing that type of work. They think they will get paid well. Or they like it because it is convenient to where they live, etc. Even though we may have a different education than others, different skill sets and talents, and go to different workplaces, whatever and wherever, we should all try to do the very best at everything we do, working at it with all our heart. We should do that, not because we like our job, the pay and benefits; nor because we like our boss or coworkers, but because we love our God and know that He loves us. God has a much bigger picture in mind for us. He wants to work in and through us to build us up. He wants to create a bright future for us through whatever work we are doing. He wants to train us to excel in everything we do in life. He is working out His purposes through us as we trust and obey Him. He also wants to shine and speak through us, so that others can come to experience God’s amazing grace in their lives. You see, as a believer in God, it is really not between us and others, it is between us and Jesus!
How do you assess it’s value?
Many times in this world, people evaluate how hard they should work. They assess how they should treat others by whether they think the people they are dealing with are worthy and appreciative of their time and efforts. It is important to understand that, as a Christian, you should not do it based on the worthiness of others, but rather on the worthiness of Almighty God. Our ultimate paycheck, our inheritance as children of God, comes from God and not from our employer or any other source. He is the one who truly controls it all anyway, and is able to ensure that we are very well taken care of, compensated well, and blessed for our efforts.
So, when you do your job, regardless what your occupation, remember Jesus is the real employer. Whether others affirm, applaud and support what you do, or they are downright hostile to you, or anything in between, do your very best at whatever you do. Work at it with all your heart, because it is the Lord Jesus Christ whom you are really serving. An amazing thing about Jesus is, that when He asks you to follow Him, your first impression may be, you are doing something for God. The reality is, God is doing so much more for you!
Do you do your job?
In all the work you are doing, work the best you can. Work at it with all your heart, Work as if you were doing it for the Lord, not for people. Remember that you will receive your reward from the Lord, which He promised to His people. You are serving the Lord Christ.
